Is it adequate to get my associates in Culinary Arts at a community college?

I am going for my associates degree in Culinary Arts at a CC and my Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management at public state university. Would that be adequate in the culinary field? If I were to go to the Culinary Institute of America or Johnson & Wales it going to run me from anywhere between 20,000 to 30,000 a year. I have the post 9/11 G.I. bill which would pay for a lot of it but even with that I will probably have to take out student loans anyways. I just do not think it is worth it because when I graduate I will have to compete for the same 10.00 hr line cook job everyone else is competing for. Please tell me your opinions. Thanks!
